Sunshine and bit of a breeze, will help dry up the ground after all the rain yesterday.

This is the update for our area

"There is the potential for severe weather over much of the UK during Sunday as a depression tracks over, or close to, the UK. There continues to be a great deal of uncertainty in the forecast but the public should be aware of the risk of flooding due to heavy rain as well as very strong winds and large waves, particularly on the southern side of the depression. Given the unseasonable nature of the weather this could be sufficient to disrupt transport and make outdoor activities dangerous.

This is a particularly volatile situation, and this alert is likely to be updated as the event approaches. The public are advised to keep up to date with the latest forecasts and alerts through the weekend"

We have had a lovely warm dry day today and this evening is still the same, doesn't look as if anything will happen yet.

Same here SL. BBC is saying a bit of rain and light winds. Guy I spoke to at our marina who assured me he had been looking at up to date sailing charts says wet and very windy.

I know how I will find out....open my curtains in the morning. No one seems to know what we will get  ::)

We've got horrific rain forecast for tomorrow, not too bad for wind.
Is this autumn?

Looks like total wash out tomorrow. Met office have wind at 18 mph. Think we can cope here, used to wind in North East.

Just checked another forecast & showing weather a lot worse. Not sure why some forecasts vary so greatly. Not just for this upcoming storm, but in general. Must get info from same radars etc.

Mum rang to tell us that thursday and friday was torrential rain and she feared that water would get into the house and this is in the Fens, March in particular was affected - but they are surrounded by fields that should seep into the rivers which should take the risk away; however - due to recent farming practices when fields aren't turned 'properly' and with the  heavy machinery, top has become compacted so water 'stands' rather than running into the dykes.   :bang: :bang: :bang:

We woke at 5.30 to hear it rattling down …….. which continued until 9.40 and it's heavy drizzle now.  Colder too.  Shoes I've chosen for the posh do won't do ……….

Poor you CLKD. I think the flooding in Cambridgeshire was due to more than just the impacted Fen soil though. They took a tremendous battering on Thursday night. I guess your mum is worrying due to the high coverage on the tv and radio about the ex-hurricane. I appreciate that people have to be made aware but this seems to have been hyped up to a ridiculous level. Older people do tend to worry over these things especially if they can't move as quickly to get out of the way of flood water. Hopefully she has calmed down a little now CLKD. Does she live near March then? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-28721657

Raining here and thunder too. I was expecting my husband to come back from the golf course early but seems as if they must have just sheltered until the last storm went over. Not as windy yet as I thought it might be - the weather that is not me!
