CLKD, talking of dogs and thunder reminded of my little Yorkie ( passed away now).
He was terrified of thunder.....then I read an article about how to calm dogs during a thunder storm.  It said to ignore them, don't give them eye contact,keep yawning as though you are totally bored, no stroking ETC.......
Well it was like a miracle, my Yorkie was transformed into a totally chilled out dog.
   So when we got another dog, and she showed signs of being afraid of thunder, I followed the same rules........and.....it just doesn't work on her  ::)  :-\

Have you tried putting the radio/TV on loudly?  Sometimes though dogs can 'feel' the change in the atmosphere before a storm arrives!

Dull.  Chillier ………. night time then  ;)

Sorry if I giggle. I used to have to do this with my two kids! Radio on, lights on & they fell asleep again.  ;D

Hot and sunny here.

I have had dogs all my life. Some are more sensitive than others to thunder. My Irish Setter could not have cared less. My Retreiver who was supposed to be a gun dog even hated party poppers. The kids were banned from anything that popped or banged as the dog would take off. My Bichon goes to firework events but does not really like thunder. She hides on her own in a corner or comes and sits on your lap for a cuddle. I have never treated any of them any different but they have / had different personalities so react differently. I don't fuss or anything  like that but like people they react in different ways no matter what you do.
