Not warm here....we had a hard freeze last night....27 degrees F, but warmer now around 40 degrees F.
I hope we don't lose our sago palms.

changes can be scary, even when we want them

Blowing hard but no dry .......... a really good hard spell would be useful, getting rid of bugs and allowing some of this ground to dry. However

Bit breezy, but dry. 8°c today, though with wind chill a bit less. Still loads warmer than USA. Got friend over there who hasn't managed to head home yet after Christmas, as it's so bad. Looks pretty though. -26 there. Brrrr

Where we live hit -26 a number of years ago too. Blooming freezing. When our daughter was around a year old. We had very long cold winter, in a house with no central heating & outside temperatures were continually -16 or thereabouts during the day. I've never felt cold like it. No polar vortex, just a cold winter.

I hate wet cold weather. Dry cold is much better. When Terry Wogan told the World that "Wales is cut off" it was very very cold for weeks! We walked everywhere, over the tops of cars and hedgerows that were hidden by deep snow

No wind today - YAAYYYY
Stopped raining for a while, at least till 3pm, started again really heavily at around 6pm.
Can't get anything dry outside at all.
It felt quite cold outside but the thermometer was saying 7C (+ not -)
Didn't feel it.

I remember spending wonderful nights watching them when I was small. My mum and dad would load me and any friends who wanted to come into the car and drive off to into the Suffolk countryside and we would just sit on the bonnet and watch. It was beautiful. I haven't seen anything about them being visible tonight though - it's pouring with rain here anyway and I think I would have to be further North than I am now.

Would love to see the Northern Lights, too many street lights where I live. It is a clear night though.
So we're not getting the end of the polar vortex as Atlantic too warm. However, looks like we will get icy blasts from the East instead. Maybe the Beast from the East mark 2.

Not watching Stargazing Live then
Calm. Chilly. Blue sky after heavy over-night rain, everywhere is slubby

No - tried to but it was so boring - too much studio time I think and not enough out in the field. Has anyone been to one of the stargazing events yet? It's been too wet here but if it turns colder and clearer I might give it a go.

How far is it to your nearest one CLKD? Once you get there then you don't have to expend too much energy and you can have a lazy day maybe the day after.

There was a little bit of frost on the grass this morning.
Later on I saw something very very strange and I am still not sure what it was. It seemed to be a large shiny ball in the sky and it was a sort of yellow orange colour. Anyone got any ideas as to what it was
