There was no way we were getting to that Wedding Fayre! The snow arrived with a vengeance Saturday tea-time - we decided about 9pm that the trip was a right-off. Got up yesterday to an average depth of about 5 inches (in some places it had drifted well over a foot deep, in others almost drifted clear) - most of it was still there when I left for work this morning, but now frozen solid. On the roads and footpaths where it had started to melt a little yesterday afternoon, it is sheet ice. No way I could get my car out this morning, so I had to walk to the railway station, picking my way over the ice via patches of undisturbed snow (safer to walk on/in than the ice). I really, really hope it's melted when I get home, but I'm not hopeful (btw - here at work, only 25 miles from home, there is none - not a flake!).
