Lots of flooding around Borrowdale.  Went up in to Martindale when it stopped raining this afternoon. Ullswater lapping very close to the road and so much water coming off the hills heading that way

Absolutely awful in the Lakes.  Lots of fields under water and the lakes and rivers are dangerously high

Saw about Borrowdale mid-week!

However: for 2 days it's been lovely .........

Thanks Hope - maths not my bestest subject  :-\   ::) - we were with friends that night and drove through 16 miles of high winds at mid-night, went to bed: woke around 6.30 to hear the loudest winds we had ever heard, back to sleep - saw the news later that day we were both working then.  Sadly a colleague's son was crushed under a tree that night  :'(

Glorious sunshine today - what a wonderful autumn day. We haven't had enough rain down here though this season....I'm sure it will come soon!

Today the weather is ... red!  According to the BBC, it's due to a combination of Saharan dust and debris from the wild fires in Portugal being dragged in by the remnants of Hurricane Ophelia (which is currently giving Ireland an absolute battering).  I'm sure the orange/red will clear when the wind arrives later, but for now it's decidedly odd!

Very pink/sepia here. The red sun earlier was spectacular. The wind has arrived but the street lights have come on. Very gloomy but so atmospheric. Hope our Irish members are staying safe.

It's been amazing. here in SW England we woke to a dark and threatening sky and everywhere glowing yellow but no sun. The darkness and glow continued until mid-morning when the clouds were clearing to show the incredible sun changing from red to pink to orange with many layers of clouds going past at different speeds. By late morning clouds had cleared completely and most of the afternoon we've had normal weather - with brilliant warm sunshine but a bit windy - nothing unusually strong though - so far just the first autumn gale. I guess the sun/dust effect has gradually moved across UK as the dust passes through :)
