Ely, Cambs is built on a gravel spit well above the surrounding Fens - Hereward the Wake hid there

Just seen our forecast for the rest of the week - it says we'll have temperatures of 36Â° PLUS on Thursday & Friday EEEk!!!

The shot is Ely and I know where it is exactly, just further along RAF Hospital Ely comes into view, I use to listen to the trains at night- time.

Much much cooler. A few showers and some sun.

I have a cardy on for the first time in ages. I will be able to cuddle up under my duvet tonight instead of kicking everything off.

Those Fen mists - that sit above the drains - we were cycling along one evening and a barn owl appeared out of the mist

and flew silently beside us ....... my heart still flutters when I remember that!

My friend was in the RAF Hospital at Ely ....... many ++ years ago.

DD and I went to King's Lynn today for some retail therapy and it drizzled all day long. Forecast was wrong as it said some drizzle and some sunny spells, but we never saw any sun!
