Ovestin & Vagifem - free prescription?
« on: October 23, 2014, 06:09:50 PM »

I was told I had to take it for life and I wondered if I could get this free of charge.

My husband has an underactive thyroid and gets his medication free.
Maybe Ovestin and Vagifem does not fall into the same category ...

Even though my condition is clearly not life threatening, I would hate to think how I would get through the day without Ovestin though  :o

You could see what a 12 month prescription costs?  That way anything you require is included until you are 60!

Asthma is life threatening, but you had to pay for prescriptions. I used to get a yearly prepayment certificate, but now I'm 60 it's free.

You don't have to get a year's prepayment - go for a three month one, and make sure you get a bagful of what you need at the start and again before it runs out - then you'll go for a few weeks before needing one again. Probably works out cheaper than the yearly option.

I used to get a prepayment certificate and paid by direct debit monthly. 3 month certificates work out more expensive nor do they send you reminders if it is going to run out. Yes, I wondered about this 60s thing. I bet they change that soon. About the only perk left for being 60!
