Elleste Duet 2mg prescription prices
« on: March 14, 2012, 08:24:57 PM »

I'm two weeks into Elleste duet 2mg.

Can I just ask how come I got charged 14.80 by the pharmacist for my prescription? 3* 28 tablets. A normal prescription is 7.40 and apparently as I handed over the prescription the shop assistant told me as it was two lots it was double the price..... There was a shop full of people so didn't want to query this by asking what she means.

I have been thinking about it ever since and The only thing I can come up with was the fact that it is a 2mg dosage and not 1mg?

Anyone able to shed any light....

Sorry, Mrs_s, she's right. It's because this type of HRT (sequi) has 2 different types of tablets - estrogen-only for the 1st half of the month, estrogen and prog. combined for the 2nd half. It's got nothing to do with the dosage, all sequi HRTs are the same.
Once you're settled on a type of HRT which suits you, it'll be worth asking your gp for 3 months-worth on each prescription.  ;)

I had exactly the same feelings the first time I collected my HRT and I'm only on 1mg!  I nearly had a menopausal breakdown at the pharmacy in Sainburys because I wasn't sure I was doing the right thing at the time by starting HRT and then thought the cheek of it having to pay double - I even made them get their little book out to show me that it was for 2 prescription charges and I got a receipt just in case they were wrong!

I did feel annoyed at the time with my GP, as I did ask her if I had to pay for the prescription because I wasn't sure if it was free like the pill, and she just said yes but didn't mention the double price.

I started a thread the same as you when it first happened.  The other annoying thing was my periods haven't been regular so when I went back after the first 3 months, she only gave me another 3 months (and another 14-80 paid out!).  This next time I'm hoping to get more of a supply as they seem to have regulated a bit better now.

Hope you are doing well on your HRT.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Just thought I'd double check!

I also have two other meds on repeat prescription, it's not cheap in total. It has to be done though.
