Anal itching

<< < (3/6) > >>

Dierdre:
Is the itching just anal or are you itching around the vulva too? Have you noticed any white or shiny patches and is it worse at night? If so asked the doctor to check for Lichen Sclerosis. Hydrocortisone cream should help if it is a skin condition.

CLKD:
Antibiotic therapy will ease vaginal atrophy symptoms but will not help with oestrogen loss which is often the cause of VA.  This condition mimics urinary tract symptoms really really well!  e-coli may be present even without symptoms. [Ive' done a search without success]

It lives in the gut so can be passed back to front when wiping = infection.  Upping the hygiene regime to avoid transfer as well as applying appropriate treatments should ease symptoms.  Try not to over think!

Anusol is for itching,  not piles.  I've never had the latter ......... in more recent years it's been due to overall dryness of the body.

Old Frumpy:
I had dreadful itching inside very top legs my knickers seemed to dig in when they never had before, plus it seemed like a sweat rash.

GP over the phone Daktarin cream....which is anti fungal....really helped - just wondering if it might be fungal around anus.

Keeping it clean and dry is a main thing and if dabbing is to painful - try using low heat hairdryer to get rid mositure.

CLKD:
 :o :o

I am using nivea regularly as the skin is dryer than 'usual'.

MrsMitch:
Oh Nina, welcome to my world, unfortunately. I've had an itchy bottom since I was in my early 20s. I do now have vaginal atrophy & I have used ovestin cream there to see if it helped but it doesn't.
My dad had it in later life (that's quite the conversation to have with a parent!) & his GP just told him it was pruritis but had no cure.
My best remedy is a little smear of sudocrem I use a little probably twice a day but never a time when I don't have any one there. If I don't use it after showering the itch will drive me mad but I do know that area is really dry without it.
I think unfortunately it may just be something you have to manage rather than get rid of.
