Anal itching
Nina57:
Hi all,
Im 57 and had a total hysterectomy at age 50. Was doing well but this past year have developed what seems as bad vaginal atrophy. Chronic UTIs, itching, burning. Im seeing a urologist next week and my gp started me on vaginal estrogen. After 6 weeks not much improvement yet. My big issue is intense anal itching. It itches so bad i bleed. I dont know what to do. Is this a part of VA? My life is severly affected by this itching. I feel like my hem is way worse as well because i never experienced such intense itch like this before back there. Anyone have this, help would be appreviated. Is this part of VA?
CLKD:
:welcomemm: how often R U inserting the VA treatment, every night is OK for as long as it takes to improve symptoms.
My GP suggested buying 'anusol' over the counter ..... which worked well. As does Savlon or Nivea. As oestrogen levels drop off the body may become dry: inside and out; skin, deep in the ears, nose, eyes, vagina, anus, between the toes, scalp - as well as muscles may become lax = aches and pains ::)
Has a urine sample been sent 2 a Lab for growing to C whether there is a bug present?
Sometimes using VA treatment internally also requires a moisturiser or estriol on the outer areas to help with any dryness, i.e. KY Jelly or 'yes' products.

First off I would buy an otc treatment for worms to make sure it's not that.
If not, then I would definitely request an examination by your GP as this could be a separate condition requiring specific treatment - a shockingly small percentage of postmenopausal women receive vaginal estrogen, however the rest are not all constantly scratching their bums.

I would look for worms B4 treating ;) it certainly wasn't worms in my case but dryness.

I apply the estrogen cream externally only every night. My gp said it was ok to do that. Inserting it burned bad so she said i could stop. My gp looked at my butt, never mentioned worms and i certainly do not see any in the toilet. She did prescribe a cortisone cream which helps.
Ive taken so many antibiotics for infections as well not sure if thats the issue. Just wondering if anal itch was common or not. Thx
Also yes urine cutlture shows e coli everytime.
