Menopause news

Further information from the HABITS trial.

25 March 2008

Further information from the HABITS trial, which examined the risk of breast cancer recurring if HRT is used in women who have had breast cancer, is now available.

Although the trial showed an increase in risk of recurrence in women who used HRT, other similar trials did not confirm this finding.

Women who have had breast cancer are usually advised not to take HRT but for some who have significant menopausal symptoms, not controlled by other means, HRT may be considered after a full discussion. For a full statement from the British Menopause Society, click here
