I hope it's ok to come and share my experience with NHS GP again.  Sorry OP, I know this doesn't help you directly but you're not alone.

I am down to my last patch this week and need another by weds or thurs but I am out of town with work so by the time my surgery processes the prescription (that's if they allow it) I won't be able to collect it.  I pre-planned being out of town by ordering in good time last week and it should have been ready on Friday but I was told I had a telephone review on Friday (which I sadly missed due to other problems with work plus I hadn't made that appointment myself so it didn't mentally stick unfortunately, I'd already had a review the week before with a different doctor!)  So I had to wait for the outcome of that review before being prescribed, as it's been taken off repeat and put on acute.  (meaning I can't even order via 111 in an emergency).  As I haven't had the review, I won't get the patches.

I've made a request but even if they honour it I won't be in my hometown to collect it.  Being out of town with work and not having proper HRT is really stressful.  I could speak to the pharmacist but she'll say go through 111 or speak to the surgery.  I can speak to the surgery but they will tell me to f*ck off basically  ;D (sorry it's getting to that, but that is pretty much what they do, they just say they can't help regardless if that means you'll be without medication)

Just thought of two more options:

1.  I could order via an online doctor but it still won't be ready before wednesday and will cost £55

2.  I could see if my local private doctor has a space to see me on Tuesday at a cost of £90

Are they resheduling your review ?

Can you go to your surgery and ask to speak to the pharmacist.  My neighbour goes to the surgery now (admittedly not about HRT) but just says it works for her and she gets something done.

If you buy online now you will always have extra supply to avoid another situation.  The reason for me buying Ovesse of late though not as expensive as £55.

(I'm waiting on a call for a face to face appointment. It is stressful.  My phone is on very loud and where will i be when the call comes in ? or will i miss it.  It is all just so unreasonable now).

Why is HRT so demonised, I can't get my head around it, Isn't it about time things were relaxed. Its like the day my husband walked into the chemist and asked for chloroform for a university project, the panic afterwards and all the questions! Asking for HRT be it topical or systemic can be just the same.

When away I always carry my prescription details with me - KaraSharron - I suggest that U go to a local pharmacist who can phone your GP surgery to check.

I thought I would come back and share the latest development in my vagina saga  ;D

Last night I remembered the gynaecologist advised me I could use a steroid cream on the vulva if it flares up and I found some in my medicine cabinet. It’s called emovate. That seems to have made quite a difference (touch wood I don’t want to jinx myself)

I filled in one of these online forms for my GP and felt emboldened to moan and quote the guidelines at them. They have prescribed it and “apologised for the confusion”. They probably thought I was a right bitch when they read that but hopefully it will educate them.

Thank you for all your help

Yes they are rescheduling it for two weeks away and been told not allowed any HRT until then!

It's not so much the problems getting HRT (which are bad enough as we know) it's the feeling that you are being treated like a naughty schoolgirl.

You have to be proactive nowadays as in a lot of circumstances many will get away with what they can.
