Dear ladies, I’m sure all my issues with peri menopause have been covered already, and your most probably thinking someone’s already talked about this, but I guess whilst I relate to quite a few we are all individual, so I thought I would do my own, so apologies now if this is repetitive. I’m 56, was peri menopausal, decided to go on HRT, tried patches, they never stayed on my skin, so gave up on them. The doctor put me on Utrogestan and oesteogel, one tablet, two pumps, everyday, I was continually bleeding/spotting, even when I was told to lower the oestrogel to just one pump. After 5 months of this, in a fit of frustration I went cold turkey and just stopped it. The flushes, lack of sleep, came back fast, but the bleeding stopped. I went back to doctor a couple of months later, she sent for a scan to make sure everything was fine with my cervix, and everything was normal. She suggested the marina coil - nope don’t want that, she contacted the gynae department who said for me to go back on utrogestan and oestrogel, but this time take two tablets and two pumps. This was in February, the first two weeks was heaven felt great, then the bleeding/potting starting, and apart from the odd day it’s all the time, and I can’t go without a towel. So after a month I thought I will just do one pump of gel, and that hasn’t changed a thing. This time I’m putting on weight quickly, which apparently is not down to the HRT, and it says HRT doesn’t cause weight gain, it’s the age. I’m seriously thinking about ditching it again and trying sage tablets which seem to be doing wonders for women. Has anyone else experienced what I have? Tried sage tablets? Any advise is welcome, thank you for taking the time to read this.

You say you're peri not meno (1 year without a bleed) so is there a reason they put you on a conti regime instead of sequi? You'd normally be on a sequi regime regime in peri so you take 200mg utro for 12 days a month (days 15-26) and have a scheduled bleed on day 1. If you have a strong cycle of your own hrt isn't going to override it except if you use a mirena, you have work with your body not against it. I don't know about sage.

The reason I was put on continuous was because my periods were irregular, and I would go months in between them, the most I had was 3 or 4 periods a year
