Of course U R in shock too.  I would be opting 4 an overnight stay if possible to sleep off the effects of the whole experience.

I have an afternoon surgery so I may have to stay whether I want to or not.  I'd rather have my own bed.

By staying in you will have access to any pain relief etc..  Hopefully U will be able to decide on the evening after surgery .

Hi Miss Sunshine,

So pleased I dropped in and read your posts, as I don't often now.  I had my op for DCIS on the 20th of December.  All well so far apart from some minor post op infection issues, now sorted.  Surgeon got good margins so no follow up surgery needed.

I have my first appointment with the oncology department on Wednesday, to discuss the radiotherapy.  Can't wait to get that over with and get back to normal life.

Will you need medication after??  I have to go on Letrozole for 5 years as my DCIS is ER+.

Don't worry too much about the surgery.  I was really worried but it was fine.  Woke up and didn't feel ill or sick.  Given drinks straight away and a sandwich a couple of hours later.  Could believe how well I felt.

Good luck and take care.

Thank you so much. I. glad to hear you have the first hurdle over and done with.  I don't know if its ER+ yet but I imagine it will be. I'm not looking forward to the prospect medication.  I wish you well with Radiotherapy.  I'm told by a friend it's like sunburn 🥵.

Hi,

ER+ means the DCIS is fed by estrogen and the tablets are not suppress it's production.

I had a late menopause at 57, so that' is probably part of the issue.  Also being overweight which also increases estrogen production.  The first I can do nothing about, but I have now lost 10 kilos so I hopeing that helps.

Try not to worry.  Each step gets you nearer the end of treatment.
