Housework; walking up/down stairs - counts as exercise.  If U have a garden, a gentle walk around several times a day also counts.

Sophia, my problem is I'm used to going full steam at the gym.
CKLD, luckily I live in a bungalow as don't think my knees would manage stairs some days. I don't understand how I manage 20,000 steps and 12hr shifts on the ward but then days off I struggle to get out of bed. It's actually quite comical seeing the ways I grt out of bed some mornings but at 45 and previously very fit makes it hard to take sometimes.
I know I am better off than a lot of people but mentally I'm not ready to be a couch potato.

Forget being ' better off  ' ....... every1 has their issues though some don't show them!

This is about yourself and getting as fit as possible.  How is your diet, I may have asked already?  Being busy on the Ward is different to slobbing it out at home, may be U R using up all your mental and physical energy - I know that I did in the NHS!  Never had a good night's sleep inn 8 years.

After a busy Shift you need to rest anyway.  Get into that sunshine with a cuppa ;-)

Diet is hit and miss. On work days I have a healthy breakfast and lunch but sometimes to tired to eat when I get home.
On days off I tend to eat healthy brekkie and prepare a healthy evening meal but then maybe just have a biccie for lunch. Some days I snack, some days I don't.
I don't drink alcohol but I drink a lot of diet fizzy drinks.
This time of year I tend to always have a pot of soup on my cooker and normally the slow cooker is used lots.

I spent years with chocolate biscuits the pockets of my white coat as we didn't have time for lunch some days, Clinics ran on into each other.   >:(. I thrived on adrenaline.

MayB prepare a snack on your days off, i.e. cook chicken/sausages/similar to have cold with chutney or bread on your return?  Pancake mix too will keep in the fridge 2/3 days if stirred, easy to cook [says I who never cooks  ;D].  Dried fruits/nuts are good snacks.

Diet drinks don't do the body any good.  DH read Chris Van Tullekans' book about how the food industry puts stuff into snacks etc. to make them edible, however none of those additives would be found in a kitchen environment  :o.  For years I drank coke but developed an irritating clearing of throat which is due to hidden sugars ......... as it starts when I have my piece of chocolate for pudding.  Now I buy bottled fizzy water ....... which I can carry when we are out and about.  The taste of tea 'goes off'  :-X by mid-afternoon, have yet to work that one out!

DH used to batch cook and freeze, the trick being to remember to take out of the freezer that morning or not to 'go off' it by evening  ::)
