Overactive thyroid and hormone levels generally?
« on: September 08, 2024, 09:18:43 AM »

I've had a borderline hyperactive thyroid since 2016 (which was the first time it was tested in years) (aged 46)

I had a thyroid goitre pop up at that point which was scanned and identified as multinodular, it mainly disappeared but is now more apparent again.

Does anyone have any experience or advice on the interaction of thyroid hormones and peri hormones?   It strikes me that many of my "peri" symptoms could also be caused by high thyroid levels??

Not only is it hard to work out which hormones cause which effects, they all interact anyway so sometimes affecting the level of one hormone will change the level of another.

Thanks AKatieD, I think that's what I'm seeing,  I'm in month 4 of HRT and feel a million times better but they're are some oddities which I wonder if my thyroid is part of that.

I'm going back to the GP (different one, same practice) nearer the end of the month, I'm going to try to get a endocrinology referral- given I had to get pushy to even get the TSH tested I suspect I've got little chance of getting that.    I've also got a Newson follow up so I'll talk to them.

I'm a bit concerned as sub clinical hyperactive thyroid can bring a risk of cardiac issues and osteoporosis
