"Menopausing"
« on: December 30, 2022, 01:13:50 PM »

I note in Davina McCall's book: "Menopausing" : that there is no reference to MM.   :-\.

About to begin reading said book.  Any1 else tried it?  The section about hair loss is interesting.  It's a drop into/out of type of book.

I think it's better to read and be armed with information which can be put to one side and referred to if/when symptoms become bothersome or unexplained.  I was never afraid of my periods though I HATED them  >:(.   By reading the back problems pages in Mum's magazines, I found words that I didn't understand so went to Mum who would talk to me about them.

"the Change" was hardly mentioned, although I was aware of 'it' being out there.

I borrowed the audio book from my local library and listened to large chunks of it on two long journeys with my hubby.

At 59 and 10 years post-menopause I found it didn't really contain anything new for me. My husband is fantastic and has always been supportive but I think he gained more from it than I did, the descriptions of VA symptoms were far more graphic than I've ever used (never felt it necessary to describe in detail) so he has a far greater understanding now.

I'd say it should be compulsory reading for women aged 40+ and their partners too. So much I wish I'd known 20 years ago but have found out in past 10yrs from various places!

Deffo worth grabbing from the library, though there is a waiting list for ebook and audio book versions. Not sure if I'd say it was worth buying if you're post, but worth it if you're peri.

I found the info about hair loss of interest.  4 me it's a dip in and out book, although well into menopause I will find it useful when giving others advice.
