Yep, we have a Large pink Kong for her. I've just been putting kibble in the bottom so she can use her puppy smarts to get them out. I used to stuff our other dog's Kongs with pretty much the same, except cream cheese. Peanut butter and banana was her fave, right out of the freezer.  She got one when I crated her and had to leave her.

I remember when Kongs were 'invented', in the early 1990s.  I can see the guys face, OH!! Roger Mugford.  He was great at giving good advice to owners.

Carrots ?  mine loved a carrot several times a day, better than over the counter treats.  Helped keep her teeth clean ;-).  In fact she loved most raw veg and would pick raspberries off the canes ........

Penny loved carrots, cucumber,  broccoli, peeled apples, bananas, watermelon, peanut butter, but not citrus. I gave Maggie a wee bit of peanut butter from my finger and she liked it, vanilla yogurt too.

Pea nut butter - mayB save that one for if she requires medication ;-).  Otherwise it might put weight on her.

Too early to decide.

I just give her a wee taste, maybe two or three licks worth.  As for meds, she came home with Metronizodole for 5 days, and I just put the half pill deep in her mouth and she swallowed it no problem.

Another weary morning. Not a great sleep but pup was being especially energetic this morning, she had the zoomies and was ripping up grass and biting at my feet.

Metronizodole -  .  why in a pup so young?

The breeder's vet recommends all pups go home with a 5-day course as a preventative measure against Giardia, just in case of exposure when they come home, or rare exposure at the kennel.

HHHmmmm. .......... not convinced.  If the area where the breeding takes place is kept clean of the parasite pups shouldn't pick it up.  I suspect that it can cause aneamia?

How do dogs get giardiasis?

A dog becomes infected with Giardia when it swallows the cyst stage of the parasite. In susceptible dogs, once the cyst passes into the dog's intestines, it goes through a transformation to the trophozoite, or feeding form, and attaches to the intestinal wall to feed. If sufficient numbers are present, clinical signs of damage to the intestinal wall will develop.

Trophozoites reproduce by dividing, and some transform into the cystic form. Eventually, the dog passes infectious cysts in its stool. The time it takes from ingestion of cysts to passage in feces is 5 to 12 days in dogs and 5 to 16 days in cats.

.  dogs can pick this up at any stage of their Life?

The kennel is kept very clean, the dogs are regularly bathed and are supervised when they are outdoors, which is why the breeder said it would be a rare thing if the pups picked it up there. Just in case, they did go over the symptoms of infection with us. If she had any mucousy stools, off her food and tired, we were to call him and let him know. It's been 9 days and no sign of it.

She's happy that's the main issue  .  Growing daily and will become braver with each hour.

When I took the 1st 'tamoxifen' pill within 12 hours I had a cold flush, thought that I had 'flu  . 

More relaxed now it's getting cooler.  Putting off our evening meal for a while so that we enjoy it.
