Well looks like I won't be having my booster on Tuesday afterall, just tested positive for Covid this morning and will be isolating alone over Christmas. Wish I'd just queued up weeks ago now instead of waiting for an appointment then I might have not got Covid. Had Covid March 2020 and 2 vaccines but this new one gets you anyway. Get your boosters!!

That's a shame Dierdre.  What made you 'test'?  Who were you planning to spend the festivities with?   :foryou:  Any idea how to find out which variant it might be?

We can carry viruses as well as catching them.  Regardless.  Hopefully vaccines will help lessen the impacts.

There is talk about a 2nd booster  ::) but don't know whether that is rumour?

I test twice a week as work in a school, the staff have been testing positive all week so it was inevitable really.
The family always spend Christmas in a lodge at Tattershall lakes, I'll hopefully get there for Boxing Day now.
Ive got classic symptoms of this new omicron so hopefully won't be too ill. Think I'll have to wait 28 days before getting the booster now.

If you have had Covid 19 recently you should delay your vaccine for 4 weeks from the date of your positive PCR test.

From my Surgery web-site today.

Dierdre, sorry to hear you have COVID.  Hope it continues to be a mild version & that you'll get to enjoy something of Christmas.

Update for anyone worried about having their booster - had mine Weds (Pfizer) after 2 x AZ.  Long queue outside & inside the freezing hall despite booking (5 weeks in advance) & was there for an hour altogether, mostly just waiting to be jabbed, free to go straight afterwards.  Felt sorry for the staff having to sit/stand around in that big, cold hall for hours - the lovely woman who did my jab was working a 10 hr shift.  Partner had his booster same time.  Both of us had a sorer arm this time, every move of muscle for 48 hrs, but now on day 3 that's almost gone, whereas with my 1st AZ jab the soreness lasted nearly a week.  I was feverish overnight 1st night (just as with AZ no 1) & unable to sleep after waking way too hot at 3am - but that's not unusual for me, courtesy of menopause!  Slightly dizzy next day, with mild headache both days following booster, no headache or other symptoms as yet today.  Partner was fine on first night after booster but feverish on 2nd night & said he felt like he had a cold.  He sweated overnight so I had to change bedding!  He's fine today & says back to normal.  Reaction to booster for me was far better than that I had after 1st AZ jab & wouldn't hesitate to have any of them again.

I'll be rebooking my booster as soon as I can. Done another LFD this morning and the line was much fainter so not as infectious and hopefully beating this thing.

Hoping that anxieties are in decline,  which is a good sort of decline, isn't it?  ;D

How long after tests show negative are we allowed to socialise?

We had to wait 15 mins. in case of a shock reaction after boosters.  Now I'm wondering when we will need yet another booster ..........  ::)
