Hrt. Confusion.. looking advice
« on: April 13, 2021, 06:35:17 PM »

Hi all
I have not posted in long time , I am currently on 4pumps of eastogel each day and 12 days per month I use provera as I've still my womb, HRT clinic  put me onto this combination just over 2 yrs ago , I was originally using HRT ( can't remember name ) but patches became unavailable. HRT clinic put me onto the combo then discharged me with no follow up appointment
I'm really not doing well on this combo at all
Provera is meant to bring bleed on after 3 days of starting taking it , my bleed arrives 10 days after I finish taking it , the side effects of provera have me feeling awful , then the 10 day waiting on the bleed I'm feeling PMT , my own GP has tried to help with reducing the pumps of gel ect but no I still feeling crap
I'm now back on waiting list for HRT clinic and I'm really looking advice on what patches I should ask for , my symptoms of post menopause is.. anxiety, low mood , tears none stop over the silliest things , only plus lately night sweats have started i never suffered them before , the only way I can describe how I feel is dead ... I've no feelings what so ever, I've no motivation, I've no interest in anything plus I've no energy , plus my head feel like mush 24-7...
I'm 55 yrs old last natural period was Dec 2014 and I can honestly say it's been hell I've been living from 2015 regarding menopause

Is there anyone who suffers my symptoms and have found HRT patch that helps ?
I need to be asked to be swapped back into the patches as clearly the bleed every month isn't helping me at all

All advice would be very much appreciated

Hi, don't know if this will help, I'm 50, last period about 4 years ago, also still have my womb. I've just been put on estrogen (2 pumps) and utrogestan 100mg a day.  GP said I could take the utrogestan vaginally every second day if I prefer. There's no break and I assume this means no bleeds. I've only just started it but maybe you could ask about this?

Hi Karen. As you are post meno you would normally be on a continuous regime so there would not be any bleeds (apart from the first few months when you may get breakthrough bleeding) so I'm not sure why you are on sequi?

Also the bleed on your current regime would usually happen once you have finished the Provera as it's a withdrawal bleed though 10 days is quite a long time I admit. Mine were usually five days after stopping progesterone.

Hi Taz
I was on HRT patches then they became unavailable, my GP then put me into a different patch but it definitely wasn't helping he at all so doctor referred me to HRT clinic , it was there they give me this combo, but the 12 days a month using provera is wrecking me on second day of taking it , I get sickness awful headaches and low mood.
It says reading the leaflet that bleeding should happen around 3 rd day if starting them , so I'm feeling crap 11days if taking provera then once it's stopped I'm getting PMT symptoms exactly 10days after stopping provera I'm getting a bleed for 5 days which is heavy bleed.
HRT clinic done no follow up appointment once they started me on this combo which I found strange !
im now being referred back to HRT clinic so hopefully they can start he of an available patch as I know there was a few HRT patches that was unavailable around 2 yrs ago
This combo definitely isn't suiting me st all plus I'm now having night sweats which I've never suffered before , I can cope with the sweats if I could inky get my life back tonsome kind of normal
I've absolutely no energy no motivation no interest in anything, my head feel like mush and anxiety is through the roof
Don't know how long I will be waiting for appointment fir clinic as with covid 19 everything is so far behind
Thank you for replying to me

Hi,
Really sorry to hear you’re sounding so awful.
It sounds to me that the provera is not suiting you. Different progesterone suits different people and some can cause the side effects you’re experiencing. While you wait for the menopause clinic app you could ask your doctor to change it for Utrogestan 100mg and use these daily, no break. Utrogestan is body indentical and seems to cause less side effects.
What patch did you used to get along with? I know most are back available now.

Hi
I have asked my GP to change the provera but GP isn't clued up to menopause at all , that's why I'm being referred back to HRT clinic so hopefully it's not to long of a wait until I get appointment from them
I honestly can't remember the name of the patch I was using ( my memory is shattered) im lucky if I remember a few days ago
im glad to hear most of the patches are now available again
Looking back I honestly don't think this combo has ever suited me , I can remember the last time I felt emotions like feeling happy, excitement ect, I'm just feeling numb inside with zero motivation
Thank you for replying
