Transdermal vs Oral Estrogen - thoughts?
« on: February 26, 2021, 04:07:44 PM »

I'm currently on 100mcg Estradot and still symptomatic (ie night sweats and insomnia, brain fog, etc etc). Had previously been on up to 4 pumps Estrogel. My OB did a blood test, and estrogen was at <40 pmol/L so clearly not absorbing very well through transdermal!

Wondering if anyone else has had this happen?

And wondering if anyone happy on oral estrogen?

Thanks!

I take oral HRT (Femonston 1/10) and top it up with one pump of estrogel every second day.

I was told by a specialist I could use up to 6 pumps gel so it may be worth trying a higher transdermal dose if you don't want oral. IMO anything is worth trying and you may find oral increases your levels better. There's also an oestrogen implant if oral is no good. The newer oral ones not made from horse urine are safer than the older ones.

Thank you! Good advice! Do you need to increase progesterone when you increase estrogen?

Not if you use Utrogestan. I would expect the prog you need to be based on how much oestrogen you absorb though rather than how much you put on your skin.
