osteporosis
« on: April 11, 2021, 01:18:09 PM »

Hi
I am very worriedd as I broke my humerus last week after only twisting my arm.A and E right away questioned osteoporosis and the hospital have told my GP to at long last send me for a dexa scan. I asked for this or to see a rheumatologist years ago( bad back and neck pain too ) as id broken my ankle followeed by foot 7 years ago. Her words were I have clinical evidence to send you! Now I have been told plus posteres everywhere in the hospital saying that you need a scan if breakj a bone after 50. I asked about bioidentical HRT as i have benign breast disease also coeliac and then became lactose intolerant as again 30 years ago I was refused blood test for coeliac. The specialist realised I must be after colonoscopy and that I was so ill with gluten anbd then became lactose intolerant. I am now 60 this summer and feel I have missed out on hrt for 12 years to build up my bones etc.Think I will have a fight to get what I need or whether it will help enough now I am older.to top it all I had massive panic attack-well they said it was that-at 3am shaking etc. blamed loosing my Dad last April and sorting and selling his house. I was ok up to this Though. Now getting hardly any sleep due to have sleep sitting up also been given sertraline low dose in a morning, which now Ido feel I need with all this going on! however its making my nose bleed a bit and GP says its not the med even though it is listed as a side effect. however been told I  can take mirtazapine instead if I want but no real advice.

OUCH  :tulips2:

My first bit of advice is to look at the British Osteoporosis Society web-site.

You've been through the Mill a bit!  If the 'sertraline' is causing nose bleeds, stop?  Swap to something else.  GPs  >:( ...........

B4 going back to the Surgery, mayB have a chat with a Pharmacist?  Let us know how you get on.

The National Osteoporosis Society has a new name. Royal Osteoporosis Society.
