I think you’re right to say that most people who come on forums are struggling and so you only hear the horror stories. I think there are many thousands of women who use Utrogestan without problem but they won’t be on here. X

Looking for advice! Having mirena coil out. Tried Utrogestron before but only on 7 days a month specialist feels taking it continually will help as I need Progesterone and not Progestin which is in the coil

I take it vaginally every night. It suits me. I am still perimenopausal so unfortunately my cycle still breaks through. But its a lot lighter than it used to be so that's a plus.

Thank you Gnatty I tried vaginally but had lots of discharge with it so it would be orally I am thinking ?
Glad it worked for you looking for positive stories 😄

I am also using it pretty positively, it has it's moments but I just go along with them!

I use 100mg vaginally each night, but can feel in my head when it gets 'too much' so will stop for a few days and i feel better again (yes, it causes a bleed but to be honest that doesn't bother me as long as I feel well). Then I re-start, and carry on....also occasionally I feel ok but a bleed breaks through, again I just pause and let it happen.

Yes, it's fiddly to work around, but for me my anxiety is so much better with it, and also I know it works, so i put up with the faff

Thank you PMDD think I will try orally first and if I find the side effects too bad I will try vaginally. So good to hear positive stories!

Hi Flan747, isn't the discharge just the remains of the pill coming out??

Hi Gnatty
Yes It was. Just didn’t get on with it due to this especially when having rare intimate moments with husband???
Wondering if I could try alternate nights to start with? I’ve tried HRT for so long now and unsure which way to turn?

It's generally fine for me. I take 200mg for 12 days vaginally. I do have an achey womb when I take it and get a bit grumpy after a week, but then I get that with my own progesterone surges as well. Oddly I had absolutely no issues when taking norithisterone ( apart from spots) but had the most horrendous time with the mirena and the progesterone in femaston.

I could try 12 days just have to get the coil removed now! No clinics doing it here at the minute which is frustrating just wanted to get started as it’s a new regime again so always frightened of change but know I need to do something different as it’s just not working
Thank you all for your replies

Hi, yes I think it is quite common to try alternate nights instead, the theory being you don't need so much when taken vaginally. Maybe your intimate moments could be before you insert the pill???
