Lockdown as we did in March: across the whole of the UK : might be better, we will know where we are then!  No meeting with anyone?  Shopping when necessary?  Exercise away from others.

There will be mutations.

It seems the only thing that's changed for us in Tier 4 is that schools have closed. I know we have to think of the economy but I really thought it would be lockdown as in March.

The uni library where I work is closed(except remote services) all this week and I think it will now be extended further.

This lockdown is because the NHS is overwhelmed.

If they had decided to vaccinate teachers during the Christmas hols, (Heads of Dept certainly, as they are paid to teach more) the unions may have been happier to keep in-school education going. Employers will remember the senior pupils and their education of 2020/21, and these poor young people will be disadvantaged for their future prospects, through absolutely no fault of their own.

There weren't enough vaccines nor staff to administer the jabs.  Many surgeries do not have the storage facilities to keep the Pfizer vaccines cold enough.  There's a list of priorities on the web this morning but it seems double Dutch to me  ::)

If necessary pupils can do Open University Courses of their choice ;-).  It may leave them a little behind but with many industries closing there will be a job shortage for a while and time to pursue what they actually want to study.

The problem with the NHS being overwhelmed may impact on those who have urgent conditions i.e. a burst appendix, heart condition: so do stay at home as much as possible to prevent the added problems of RTAs, falling off a cycle or slipping on any ice.  Beds and personnel are short in most specialities as they have been seconded to other Wards to assist with the virus situation.

Well - lots of adverts around C.mas was that we should have our windows open in order to blow the virus to the outside.  But to my knowledge air blows into the house? so I held two ribbons at our bathroom window.  Yep.  Breeze blew them inside  ::).  So that worked then!  Either that or they want our elderly to freeze to death .........
