I remember the huge outpouring in the National Press when Winston died, in a chest in the loft I have press cuttings.  All in black and white.  Even the dockers lowered their cranes as the boat went past on the Thames  :'(

i find stuff like that really fascinating.

i think many people thought winston like the Queen would go on forever.

they seemed invincible

I used to think that as long as the Queen were alive everything would be OK...

It hasn't been though  :-\.  Wars have continued through out her Reign, however; there was a sense of peace and security when she was out and about at work.
