Evorel sequi or Estrogel & Utro
« on: August 14, 2020, 04:51:01 PM »

For a while I’ve struggled with HRT different issues on and off but the main being the progesterone part.
At the moment I’m on 4pumps Estrogel, cerazette mini pill & 7 days Utro. (All under the guidance of a specialist)
For some reason I get on ok with the cerazzete but struggle with Utro as I know a lot of people do. My only problem is that my mood is very flat now and libido has nose dived.
I have a prescription for Evorel sequi and my specialist did say to see how I get in with the regime I’m on but if o struggle to give the patches a try.

Could anyone give me their thoughts experiences on the 2 types of HRT please? I’m not sure if it’s worth me swapping over and just put up with the symptoms I have as they’re still a lot better than what I was getting.
I’m 48 and quite late Peri

Many thanks

Hi Polpringle

Your post seems to have got missed.

You are on quite a complicated prescription at the moment. However my comment would be that going from 4 pumps of oestrogel to a 50 mcg patch may well be quite a decrease - depending on how you absorb oestrogen from the different methods - gel vs patch.

Have you thought of one of the BC pills designed for peri-menopause, like Qlaira? Someone has just posted about it who is older than you. This would regulate your cycle and give you oestrogen though not sure what effect it has on libido - since tablet HRT can reduce it.

Also have you though of a Mirena coil which would make your regime much simpler? You would just add oestrogen at the level you needed for your symptoms and have both contraception and uterus protection?
