15 August

We have our badge to wear proudly.  Sadly won't be able to attend any Services though I believe that the Arboretum are holding a small event nearer the time.

I was OK during the BBC coverage until the choir sang 'abide with me'  :'(.   Such good luck that the sun arrived during the morning.  We have stood there looking at the piece of railway transported from Burma, wondering whether our relative touched it.  I suspect that we all feel that.  I think that C-19, by making it necessary to distance, allowed people to have their own memories and thoughts without being overlooked.

I won't watch Joanna Lumley's programme at 8.30 p.m. as we will be 'fairporting' on U-Tube so hope to be able to catch that tomorrow.  I have Dad's photo and our medal on the windowsill and have hung the Union Jack on the back of our garden, hopefully the correct way up  :-\
