I'd miss Waitrose  ;D.  Blasted dog is barking now and they don't do much about it.

Mr Blackbird has 11 meal worms in his beak and still looks for more  8)

ENORMOUS hedgehog poo in the patio this morning  :o

Damsel and dragon fly nymphs in the ponds  :)

Birds round my feet looking for meal worms ....... birds singing.  Stocks smelling.

Had to put the hose round the pots last night as well as water from the barrels for the heathers etc..

We had two swallows inside the house - they flew in the open kitchen door and right into the cottage - the pair perched at the top of the door well inside at the far end of the second room and started canoodling together! Weren't at all bothered by our presence! Every time we leave the garage doors or outhouse doors open they swoop in - I think they're desperate to find somewhere to nest - it was amazing :)

Hurdity, I'm very jealous...what a fabulous thing to witness.
Swallows are my favourite bird, I can never wait for them to arrive, and feel quite sad when they depart.
Unfortunately living in a bungalow no chance of any visitors ....but I know lots of places to go and simply admire them :)

Quite a moment Hurdity. Funnily enough my partner had one fly into his office today. It's never happened before.

My Gran wouldn't have a bird in the house, not even on a C.mas card, even the budgie lived in a cage in the porch  ::).

I haven't seen a swallow yet  :-\ .........

Yaffle in our wild patch yesterday - flew out of a small apple tree where it was trying to peck a hole in a blue-tit nest box, which my husband had strengthened with an aluminium plate to stop them! Today watched same yaffle eating ants on our neighbour's lawn - watching him (or her!) for ages from upstairs window - such beautiful birds and I love their call :)

My gran was the same, we had to make sure there were no robins on Christmas cards, it must be to do with that age group.

I collect owls  :) (not live ones of course)  ;D  ;D  ;D

Of course you do  ;D ......... Do you think it was probably superstition?  The same Gran wouldn't have May blossom or lilac in the house either.  Both Grans would cover mirrors during a thunderstorm  ::) - this is kind of nature related  :D

Today we had our 1st female damsel fly of 2018 emerge from the bottom pond  :).  Feeding blue tit parents, a male blackbird, 2 great tits - live meal worms, the blackbird swoops over my head as soon as I step outside  :o  ::) ..........

I won't have lilac flowers in the house either  :o it's bad luck, but I don't know why and I'm not risking it  ::)

Must all be superstitions but I remember as a child a bird fell down our chimney, it was still alive and made a terrible black sooty mess all over the room.

;D - maybe you are the person who can put that myth to bed, get some lilac in a vase Girl  ;D.   The lilacs have looked stunning this year.

No, never, not in a million years, only when hell freezes over, not when there is a blue moon but maybe after I've been shooting for bacon (flying pigs  ;D )

As you can see I'm considering it  ::)

Good move to fit the metal plate as the greater spotteds do love a tasty baby bluetit. Not sure about the Yaffles though. I know their main diet is ants but I've always wondered what they eat in the winter?

It's so lovely to see the different birds collecting our dogs
fur out in the garden and flying off with it for their nests.
She's blowing her coat at the moment and if we brush her outside
we leave some of it out there for them.
They collect as much as they can hold in their beaks and fly off with it.
Good to know it's being recycled.
