make up for Mature Ladies??
« on: May 12, 2020, 08:04:30 PM »

I have just read about a mascara VolumeCare+ which is aimed at post-menopausal ladies - do you think such a product really makes any difference? I didn't............then I did........then I wasn't sure, but  how I wish I had my hair-free top lip, my defined eye brows, my long, attractive eye lashes. Oh, what a depressing minute or 3 I've just spent.

Better now?

DH is a research Chemist and often groans at the ideas pushed particularly at ladies in the Health and Beauty pages/adverts.

I haven't worn make-up for over 30 years - got too lazy to take it off at night  ::).  I've let my hair go silver on top.  I don't shave my legs unless the weather is really really warm .......... for lots and lots of weeks  ;)

One has so many eyelashes so unless the mascara made it sticky, it won't add volume.  I tried that in the 1970s  ::) and looked like a panda  :o

A really good product for your lashes to grow is called rapid lash, you get it from boots,it's a bit costly but after a few weeks, omg, your lashes are lovely and long, really works.
I don't step outside the door without make up,so vain  ;D

I used to wear the bare minimum make up when I was working but have got lazy these days! I do fill in my eyebrows every day as I feel better with them "in", and use mascara when going out (had a break for 7 weeks   ???) love lipstick but have wasted so much money. CLKD, thanks for Mr CLKD's opinion - when I think about it, how can eyebrows know if they belong to a child or adult?

I don't like all the 'ideas' on shampoo but it seems that I can't buy any that hasn't got 'something' magical in it  ::)

;D Yep, that's a tip my friend gave me for looking in the mirror, take your glasses off and stand well back, works every time.

Both Grannies had beautiful soft skin.  One had water from a pump ......... both used very little other than warm water and probably 'ponds' skin care cream.

Last night DH said I was looking awful red (face, I think!) Today I went back to a Clinique redness solutions cream but after 2 minutes, I remembered why it was in the toilet bag in the cupboard - it pulled up and I had big grains of dark green stuff to wipe off! Any recommendations for a good redness solutions moisturiser, preferably with SPF?

Whose side might he be on?

I would use a sun tan lotion ............ mayB Nivea.  The less mixes the best.

My mum taught me to care for my skin from a young age, so I always moisturise.  Until I was around 30, I washed my face with soap but now I use a cleanser as I find it doesn't make my face feel stripped of moisture.  Now that I'm 50, I use a richer cream at night after removing makeup.  I find Olay a good product for my skin.

For my makeup I just go very light - I don't understand the trend these days to plaster the stuff on like so many young girls do.  I think makeup should enhance the face, not cover it up.  After moisturising, I apply a BB cream (Garnier), then a light dusting with a mineral powder, a little blush and then I touch up my eyebrows.  I get my eyebrows tinted and shaped every four weeks, as I'm blonde and they are otherwise very pale.  I'll use eye makeup if I'm going out for the evening.
