Hi I am a new member. As background I am married, aged 61 and had a hysterectomy at the age of 39 (one ovary left), cervix also removed. I started noticing menopausal symptoms at around 50 but soldiered on until the age of 52 when I started HRT (Premique) and continued with this for 3 years. I then stopped HRT due to breast cancer scares at the time.
I regret stopping HRT and have suffered on and off with hot flushes, low mood, irritability, and a total lack of libido. I have moved house 3 times over the last 4 years and have tried at each GP surgery for go back onto HRT but to no avail due to my age, until I got lucky in January 2020. I was referred to a private gynaecologist who then referred me to an NHS menopause clinic. I had a telephone appointment at the menopause clinic this month and finally I have been prescribed Oestrogel Gel with a view to being prescribed Testosterone Gel in the future. I am currently two weeks into using the Oestrogel Gel, my first week was disastrous and I ended up in A&E with palpitations but have persevered and am now less anxious and coping well ..apart from one problem .. I am suffering terribly with vulva soreness. I have spoken to my GP today and they have prescribed Timodine cream, so will have to wait and see what happens. I am also on Vagifem which i have been using for many years, although I have been asked to used Vagifem daily for 6 weeks to 'plump things up'. Any advice on the soreness would be welcome.
