Hello ladies

I think everyone knows eating processed sugar is a bad idea. It is devoid of calories and only does us harm. The reason it is added to processed food is to provide bulk and disguise the taste of the salt which is included as a preservative.  The 'sugar' that appears in whole foods like fruit is digested slowly because it is mixed with fibre.  One of my foodie sites suggests eating dates if you have a sweet tooth and I add these to my morning oats and they improve the taste no end!

My favourite science meets food site is run by Dr Michael Greger at NutritionFacts.org. We'll worth a look for anyone interested.

Take care everyone.

Hello again.

Oops, I meant to say that processed sugar is devoid of nutrition not calories lol.

Yet another reason to consult reputable sources as the ramblings of an amateur like me are clearly suspect!

Wishing everyone well.

Hello again ladies.

I had similar surges on waking every morning. I'd need to check my diaries to be sure how long I experienced this horrible symptom but it was definitely several months.. The sensations moved in waves from my chest to my stomach to my bowels and back to my chest.  The surges I have now are a lot milder even though my hormone levels must be much lower. All this makes me assume that the body does adjust eventually.

Wishing everyone well.

Hello again ladies

McKay Girl -  I don't have any family experience of diabetes but  it is my understanding that it is a disease of fat toxicity, the dangerous fat being located in the muscles and organs of the body ie visceral fat.  I think people with this condition are called TOFIs meaning thin on the outside, fat on the outside.  Perhaps this is the unfortunate position your relatives find themselves in.  Again my knowledge is limited but I think weight loss strategies can help because visceral fat is the first to go when a person slims down.

Wishing you well.

Sorry a bit late to the party, but I found an article on Inositol on an anxiety forum. I thought I'd give it a try, I bought some from a bulk protein and supplement online shop, a 500g bag lasts ages. It works really well. It's not perfect but does make a huge difference. I now use 1/2 a tsp three times a day when I remember but I do take it at least once a day. I saw a difference pretty much straight away. If you want to find the article, just google inositol anxiety forum and you will get a link.

You're welcome! I was very skeptical at first but I thought, what have I got to lose? So I ordered some and tried it, it made a difference within a few days. I think it's definitely worth a try.

Hi. Just wanted to mention that I took Inositol in capsule form years ago for anxiety. Unfortunately it made no difference whatsoever and was expensive. Maybe in powder form is more effective. I came across it from a well known anxiety forum.

However, my anxiety is not menopause related so could just be me.

My anxiety was always there, way before the menopause but got worse with it. I think a lot of the inositol sold in capsules in the UK are a blend of choline and inositol, is that what you had? The brand I buy is in a bag, it's pure inositol, and the site I buy it from usually has discount codes so it ends up costing about £15.00

It isn't a magic wand but I do find it helps take the edge off. Don't get me wrong I still get anxiety and panic attacks, but in between I feel less anxious. I guess that what works for one doesn't work for another, we're all different.

Hi guys. Just to say I have had anxiety throughout Peri for the past 5 years. It can peak and trough and believe me I have tried everything possible going to find a ' fix' for it. Everything GP recommended. Everything Internet Googled. From amazon Meno pills/reike/yoga weeks/breathing/tapping/vitamin XYZ/ AD/HRT/ tumeric tea/Meditation/Mastication/Radio 1/2/NHS counselling/ jogging/singing/juggling. Nothing really ' fixed' it, it comes and goes.

My realisation is that I have been anxious all my life (probably due to family/genetic (my dad is anxious) and hormone changes have turned the background 'swell' of anxiety into huge peaks that come in week long waves. Sometimes it is manageable by distraction (walks/baking/socialising etc) , sometimes it verges on the full blown panic.  But it HAS improved as Peri has gone on and my periods become less regular. Unfortunately it seems to be a ' natural' part of this life-stage and the hardest part for me is accepting that. This great forum at least made me realise it is a very common part of Meno.
