Hello Everyone.
« on: October 30, 2019, 06:54:05 PM »

It's a relief to read this site and hear of everyones experiences, I thought I had all these different things wrong with me but now I can put them down to the menopause eg aching all over, head aches, tingling feelings, fatigue. I decided to go to the doctors after a bout of feeling really low to talk about going on Hrt, they suggested trying a antidepressant first which I did at first but I ended up with side effects, the piles were the final straw so I took myself off them gradually now all my menopause symptoms have come back with a vengeance so now I'm in the dilemma about which way to go. Trying to get a appointment at my doctors is nearly impossible though!

Hello to you relieved.
Those initial symptoms sound like perimenopause to me and I can certainly empathise with not realising it was the onset of the menopause and thinking there were all sorts of things wrong with me!
Welcome to the forum. Lots of very knowledgable and helpful ladies on here who have reassured me no end x

Hello relieved.
If your struggling with meno symptoms, and you've had side effects from the antidepressants, then I'd go on hrt....you have options, different ones to try, if the first doesn't suit, they're are others to try...
Hope you get an appointment soon. Let us know how you get on...
Do some research, go armed with information to your doctor, use the information from this site, and I'm hoping your doctor will sort you out properly.
Keep posting, we're all in the same boat, either peri or post meno....ask as many questions as you like, someone's always on to offer advice....good luck..xx

Hi Relived. Peri Menopause is truly a miserable time for some and it hit me out of the blue . I had never heard of it. Four years on from the first period cycle changes I have had everything you mention - gastric/tingling/fatigue/insomnia/joint pain/foggy head. I have seen half a dozen GPs/two ' meno' specialists , been on two HRTs ( made me  feel dire and hugely anxious), one Antidepressant (Ditto), every natural vitamin/mineral/CBT/yoga/exercise.  And NOTHING. I mean nothing has really made any lasting difference to the coming and go-ing  of symptoms. Nothing has had for me a lasting , beneficial effect.

So knowing you are not physically cracking up and it is (just) hormone fluctuations is reassuring.
Accepting there is no ' quick fix' not matter what regime you are trying.
Diet/Exercise/Relaxing do make a difference to your well being (but will not ' stop' the symptoms!)
Keep making the GP appointments for peace of mind and try and find a GP who ' understands' (I have seen 10 now - none do!)

Anti-depressant medication won't cause piles ;-)

:welcomemm:  browse round.  Make notes. Decide which symptom you would like to ease first.  Some find keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use.  Practice Nurses are often easier and more clued up to talk about menopause with!

As oestrogen levels drop so the body may become dry: inside and out - nostrils, deep in the ears, skin, vagina, scalp as well as muscles may become lax = aches and pains.

A good diet.  Gentle exercise regime.  'me' time in abundance!  Let us know how you get on.
