I am seeing a dermatologist for my hair loss, and he said not to waste money on all these special shampoos etc, as they might help existing hair but not hair growth, if it's going to come back it wil,if not nothing can make it,except minoxidil, but will fall out again when stopped
He said my hair will grow back, but often a long wait

I drink 2 of the Superdrug (I love Superdrug) energy release effervescent tablets everyday, usually with meals. They have a high biotin content and all the other B's in one go so it's easy to do. I did have some hair loss a couple of years ago and I think this helped. Also use their vit c fizzy tablets as vit c is really important for skin health.

I could be imagining things and my eyesight is defo a bit more ‘soft focus' than it used to be, but for any ladies using oestrogen gel, whatever's left on my hand after rubbing in I mix into my moisturiser, it seems to be making my skin more glowy. I will continue.

I am not convinced that my hair loss is stress related,i stopped my livial for a month and hair seemed to stop falling so tried again and hair is falling again, not as much but i have patches of loss now where i didn't before so i am going to stop now altogether, can't risk losing more hair, really fed up now
I wont be able to go anywhere at Christmas, not too bothered really as Christmas isn't my favourite time. but supposed to be going to a buffet :'(

jaycee...I really sympathise about the hair loss. I had a patch of alopecia a few years back which I think was stress related as it has improved.

Have you tried wearing printed head bands/scarves? I got into these at the time and still wear them out quite a bit. I bought some from Amazon (Deshow - vintage flower print ones). You can either wear them across your forehead or on top more ' Alice band' style. I used to think it wasn't my style but had loads of nice comments with people asking me where I got them.

Squeaker ,head bands would be no good to me,as my hair loss is mainly at the back, crown and below
I have a nice corduroy peaked cap which i have seen  selling recently in M&S, my hair loss is mainly at the back ,crown down to middle so wouldn't cover it sadly, and no sign of any regrowth
My dermatologist was going to ring me last week to let me know if he was going to do a skin biopsy, still waiting

There are lots of ethnic styles out there that you could adopt.  Have a wander round your local market stalls and get ideas?

Hey Jaycee - I don't know whether you would like them, you might start yelling eeeuww! ??? but it might be worth considering if you are really desperate. There are things called "toppers" and you can find them on ebay and they are made with silk pads so they are soft against the head and real hair and not too expensive and you can home dye them to your own hair colour easily.  They are very real and you can't tell if someone is wearing one like with the synthetic pieces. I have one because my hair is thing round the temples and is baby fine.  They are great for anyone who is thinning down the middle where their parting used to be but now looks like Moses parted the red sea!

Jaycee - what Ladybt recommends is a really good idea. You kind of add them to/on top of your own hair. My friend uses one and it has made a lot of difference to her self confidence. I did not realise how many celebrities use them - many women “our” age supplement their hair with a partial hair piece because it makes them look younger. You don't have to get a big, full one, just a small supplement like Ladybt says xxx

CLKD not sure what you mean by ethnic styles that i could do with bald patches showing?

Ladybt,  and Agatha .yes i am looking into those now,i did send for a couple to try from ebay but they seemed very thin, and i don't think would cover enough
Also asked a local lady who has a shop selling these things, but she said she didn't think i had enough at the front to clip onto, she mainly sells extensions, so might have to order them in
I actually think she couldn't be bothered as i do have a lot of hair at the front
The ones i have looked at in wig shops are very expensive. but going to have to do something,as i can wear a hat outside ,but not if i have to go anywhere ,like at Christmas maybe

Jaycee - if you don't have much at the front to clip to and feel that they would be a bit "unsafe" you can get the clips quite easily.
Just sew on a couple on the sides of the pad near the front where you ha more hair with a couple of stitches. I got what's called a "halo" a little while back which are the longer extensions on a wire and it feels unsafe so I just added a couple of clips near where the wire attaches to the hair and it's much better.  Just adapt as you go along.

The ones on ebay come in varying weights, they are measured in grams - just check that you are getting the heavier weight ones (they have more hair!). Obviously they are more expensive but they are nowhere near as expensive as using a wig shop or a specialist hair extension place. x

LADYBT,I DO HAVE PLENTY OF HAIR AT THE FRONT,ALSO FROM THE CROWN, LIKE A WADGE OF HAIR WHICH TO AN EXTENT COVERS THE BALDY LOOKING PATCHES,HARD TO EXPLAIN REALLYIT IS UNDER THIS WADGE OF HAIR IT IS ALMOST BARE, BUT WHEN IT PARTS THE BARE PATCH SHOWS
lOOKING FROM THE FRONT, NO ONE WOULD REALISE WHAT THE BACK IS LIKE,I LOOK TO HAVE A NORMAL HEAD OF HAIR LOOKING AT ME FROM THE FRONT
OH dear, just noticed caps was on, too tired now to go through it all again,

Hi Health+Beauty Girls!
Been feeling low for last few weeks and feel rubbish today after having a horrible cold last week, which seemed to make inside my nose feel really sore, like there were little razors up it. My nose was stuffed up at night so I couldn't sleep (the amitriptyline only made it drier, blurred my eyes so I couldn't read but could I drop off before 5am? Not often! Anyway, a busy week ahead of lunches out, singing in concerts and I'm willing myself to get better!

Moaning over and must report that the Biotin (I took a large dose for 4 weeks) has not worked on my scruffy, thin and flaky, breaky nails but my hair is so shiney and a deep, rich brown colour, enhanced by Superdrug's toner eqivalent shampoo. I smother it on dry hair, leave it for 30 mins then partially wash it out, add conditioner then gently rinse it for as long as I can (before Mr. P reminds me about the hot water!)

A perfume question - I love Annais Annais but it only comes in eau de toilette - anything similar to it in smell in an eau de parfum?

Hope everyone is ok?

             Thanks, Padine xx

Hi Padine,
Sorry to hear you felt so rough, the cold going about at the moment is a right nasty!  The flakey breaky nail thing will take a while to show up because the new stronger growth will come from the bottom, as the old stuff grows upwards and you have to bear in mind they say it takes nearly a year for your nail to grow from bed to top!
I have found too much biotin and magnesium seems to give me the runs :(
Can't answer the perfume question sorry - I'm kind of ok, things have been very very stressful and I have been the most anxious I have been in about a year which wasn't a very pleasurable reminder of times past but it will pass.
