Dr Louise Newson's Expanding Team
« on: March 05, 2019, 08:28:51 PM »

Hi ladies

Just in case you are interested in Dr Newson's private menopause clinic, I've just had an email through about their ever expanding team of specialist doctors. I think this will really reduce the waiting time. They are based at Stratford upon Avon. I can personally recommend them although it is frustrating that we have to pay for this level of care! She has recently been doing some lectures at the Royal College of GPS about all things menopause, so hopefully we are on the right track.

Thanks x

She's doing great things.  You can get lots of help there, not just for HRT.  Having been stuck travelling to London for ineffectual treatment before, I am loving just driving over to Stratford now and then and her help with the HRT has been excellent.

I've been consulting Dr Louise Newson for a few years now and for me her assistance was truly life changing.  It's just dreadful that the majority of women who need help will never get the attention they need as they cannot afford to pay for treatment privately, even though all GP's should be giving the same advice!

Dr Newson is very well aware that so many of us struggle to get appropriate treatment and is actively trying to bring about change through training medical professionals and meeting with MPs etc. Unbelievably  NHS doctors have no mandatory menopause training. I'm not privileged. I've been unable to work for several years and had to borrow money to enable me to get private treatment I wouldn't be alive now if I hadn't accessed that treatment and I don't say that lightly.

I don't see it as promoting private health care. More pointing desperate women unable to access treatment via the NHS (they wasted thousands on inappropriate care on me. There is no NHS menopause clinic here) in the direction of somebody who can help. There's a group of people including Dr Newson and MM member Maryjane who are working really hard to change things but that will take time. In the meantime some of us have no choice but to go private.

If anything, women who are in desperate need of treatment having to pay privately will highlight the lack of information and help that should be available within the NHS.  There are many GP's who do not have the time or training to deal with this problem.  Consultants such as Dr Newson are working hard to educate MP's, many of whom do not have any idea about menopausal problems and hopefully this will eventually filter down where it's badly needed.

I had to go private because the NHS gynaecologist would not prescribe systemic HRT until I agreed to a Hysterscopy because of my long term use of Vagifem, I had only been using it for 8 months at that point and my GP would not go against  what he said, fortunately I could pay for it.
