Good news - in a way! Spoke to my doctor this morning, she explained  my testosterone levels are virtually non existent, so definitely explains lack of libido, energy levels, tiredness and lethargy. Can't believe she will prescribe testosterone - apparently only because I've had a TAH + BSO, not sure how it will be prescribed yet whether it will be a patch or gel but she is doing a bit more research and I should be able to pick it up on Monday! One very happy Yorkshire Girl

It means Total abdominal hysterectomy with both ovaries removed as well.
Had another call from my GP this afternoon, the treatment she wanted to prescribe they won't let her as it can only be done through a gynaecologist!! Along with another senior GP at the practice they tried to get it for me on prescription but failed, they just didn't want to send me back to hospital yet again - consultant was useless! Have chosen a different hospital this time!

I was started on Tostran gel in January.  I'm seeing a consultant who specialises in menopause.  It's available by NHS prescription.  I too have no ovaries and so far it's done wonders for my energy.  I use half a pump, pea sized amount every other day rubbed into thigh.  Although going to ask her in March if I can use everyday.  Tostran gel definitely available on NHS.  Go bang the table at GP surgery or find a menopause specialist, there's a list on this site.  That's where I got mine from and she's great!  Good luck and don't give up! 😊

I had mine prescribed by a gyn.

Seems to be the way in, can you ask for a referral to a gyn or meno specialist?

Great news Yorkshiregirl but annoying re the prescription. I don't know how different areas work but as far as I understand it GPs are able to override their system in orcder to prescribe things off-licence - mine does it all the time! They just have to be able to justify it. However may not be the same in your area?

Yes all the testosterone gels are available on NHS but as products for men and as these particular preparations are not licensed for women it is discretionary whether or not they will ( can?) prescribe.

Great new Yorkshire girl. I realy hope it proves to be the missing link.

I'm BSO too.

My gp will not prescribe anything unless it's in writing from my gynae. Even with my psychiatrist who wanted to prescribe Wellbutrin  an AD which is off license the gp wanted another specialist from the psychiatry cliiinic to put it in writing as well.  So I'm pleased to know it is possible to get it on nhs.

I'm going to gynae on Monday and I'm going to ask for T even if my E levels have gone up because depression is still a major issue along with other symptoms of low T.

I have followed hurdity post on testosterone with great interest.

Im in Leeds and my gp prescribed it for me no problem.  Have regular blood checks.

Thanks everyone. Tc yes I have read Hurdity's post on testosterone for info, very helpful.
Hurdity my GP got my referral letter done straight away for me so I didn't have to wait the usual 5-6 weeks just for that (we book our own appts) I have an appointment at my local hospital they hold a gynae clinic on a Thursday afternoon, on 21st March. I fit all the criteria so hopefully there won't be any problems getting hold of it.
