Problems with Estrogel & Utrogestan supply
« on: January 15, 2019, 09:34:49 PM »

Hi

My usually highly efficient pharmacist told me he is struggling to source my usual Estrogel UK pump pack + Utrogestan prescription. Is anyone else having similar problems? I do wish Besins would sort out their logistics.

Also has anyone tried to buy it direct from Besins if you can provide them with a private prescription?

Sorry to hear this GypsyRoseLee - I don't use oestrogen gel but I have just today got my Utrogestan from my local practice dispensary without problem.

Hope you manage to get some. Not sure about getting meds direct from Besins - I very much doubt it but I don't actually know so always worth a try - perhaps send them an e-mail? They are very good at replying!

Thanks Hurdity. Hopefully it's just a temporary glitch in the system. I think something similar happened last Autumn?

Hello GypsyRoseLee,

Could this be the reason for Oestrogel shortage? https://www.menopausematters.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,42408.msg669066.html#msg669066

I don't think you can buy from Besins, they have a long chain of distributors and wholesalers to do it and if there's a pump manufacturing problem their stock (if any) will run short soon. Maybe ask your Pharmacist to ring the parallel importers for Oestrodose?

Hi ladies I'm not on hrt anymore but when I was I had the same issues tryibg to get supplies of estrogel.
Can I recommend the online clinic in Harley street London they are licensed by the cqc and are brilliant to deal with great customer service.
Give them a ring and explain that your already on the gel and having trouble sourcing it and they will advise you if they can help you.I used to get mines from them when I first started using the gel as pharmacist could only obtain oesrodose at the time which I didn't want.as far as I'm aware they full the scripts for many of the top London meno consultants clinics. You will of course have to pay but for me it was worth it to know I didn't have to chop and change hrt because of supply issues and if ordered b4 2pm you'll have it next day.just trying to help DD😘

I haven't got my script yet, but have heard back from Besins that there are currently no supply issues re: Oestrogel, which is a relief. And KeepGoing has posted to say she has picked up her script okay.

But that is very useful to know about the on-line pharmacy. I did look at them but assumed you could only use them if their doctors prescribe for you? Could I just provide them with my current prescription?

I have used the Welbeck Pharmacy near Harley Street which supplies Prof Studd's clinics and various others. They told me they only stock Oestrogel UK Pump Pack because all their consultants much prefer it to Oestrodose.

If you want to do that GRL you need to ask a receptionist at your practice to change the nomination of your pharmacy to one of the online ones. Then when you put a repeat request in your GP will send it either electronically to the nominated online pharmacy - or you may be given a printed script which you would then post to the online pharmacy.

Hope that helps.

I'm not having any problems (yet...!) in Northern Ireland - just got my script filled and got 4 packs which is 2 months supply.  Normally I only get one month at a time but hey ho!  Maybe they know something I don't judging by what you are all saying.
