Finally!!!
« on: January 11, 2019, 06:27:44 PM »

Hiya ladies.
I've finally got a scrip waiting for me to pick up Monday
It's for esrradiol 0.06 gel.
I presume this is eadtrogel. I hope it's the same thing anyway.dont know if anyone can clarify that for me.
Thanks for sticking with me through this whole debacle.
As I said on other thread I'm gonna ask refer to Dr panay clinic as I can only see this same crap happening if I have to change hrt or when the specialist adds Testosterone in Feb.

Yee gods the GP  thought estriol (ovestin) was systemic eastrogen. The receptionist had to explain, through me, the difference.between the two and that ovestin is not esrradiol.

That and the fact that the consultant thought ULIPRISTAL was the same as utrogestan have lead me to have no faith in either.

I think I have a right to be referred to someone who knows what the eff they are doing when it comes to Hrt. And rest assured ladies, I will be making sure I make that point very strongly in pushing for referral.

Somehow I think this is the battle and not the war and after weeks of phone calls and messing about I feel worn down.
Thanks for being there and listening  xxxx

I bet you do!!
This is absolutely disgraceful.
One of the doctors at my surgery refused to believe there was any such thing as estrogel, I'm sure he thought I was making it up!
Best of luck to you

Hello Tc,

Yes, estradiol gel is the name of the active ingredient. You might be getting Oestrogel or Oestrodose relabelled as Oestrogel.

Here's the link to raise a concern about a doctor: https://www.gmc-uk.org/concerns/raise-a-concern-about-a-doctor\
Send them the whole bizarre experience.

Good luck with Dr Panay!

Thank you. And thanks for the link. I have made appt with gp next week and will ask forr referal first. If they say no then I will use the link and press a formal complaint.
I they refer me I will wait til I get appt with the meno clinic and then I will still complain cos I don't want anyone else at my gp surgery going thro the same thing for all I know there may have already been a complaint from someone else.
It makes me wonder if all the other patients at my gp surgery are men! Lol. I know they are not but the lack of knowledge and attitude around meno and hrt might make you wonder.
All the GPS in my practice are 35 plus  women which to me makes it even worse somehow.

They haven't got there yet.  I expect they will have great support when they do!

Well done!

I'm not down on the nhs;  I'm very grateful for it but there are some areas which seem to be a real cause for concern.
For me the lack of consistency across different gp practices,  is a worry.
If you are lucky enough to see a good one it can make all the difference.
If they have an interest in a particular condition and it happens to be the one your suffering from that's the jackpot.

I don't expect them to know everything but I do expect them to find out if there is something they don't know or haven't heard of before

Even if they only have one patient with a particular diagnosed condition I think it's their duty to that patient to research it especially if they are going to be the first line of care going forward

I have nothing but praise for the docs in a previous practice  who discovered lump in my groin and got me into a heamatologist within two weeks. Same later with a breast lump. I couldn't have asked for more but....i know this isn't everyone's experience.
I've had bad experiences as well as good with different practices in the past  and my  current gp practice has obvious issues.
.
I would like to hope most of you ladies have had better experiences with meno hrt and GPS but reading on here it would seem often to be sadly not the case

Soz if this sounds like a rant I don't mean it to but.. come on, It's 2019. Medical science is getting close to transplanting a head!! You think they'd be doing a better job with the menopause after all it's been around for....well, forever😀

I don't think that professionals talk to each other [long story short for this evening].  I could write a book about our experiences from May onwards!
