'Whooshing ' in ears
« on: December 07, 2018, 11:31:18 PM »

Does anyone else get this? I get it on and off every day, almost like I can hear my pulse. My head also feeks 'full' and my ears have a dull ache. I feel deaf and cant hear what people are saying especially if there is background noise although a hearing test found my hearing to be ok

I've had these symptoms. They come and go. Interestingly, the same time as my digestive problems. There is a link between GERD and ear fullness.
If yours is more like tinnitus, I think I've read that is one of the menopause symptoms.
These days I've got so many aches and pains and anxieties that I blame most of them on menopause  ;D

Always my right ear! It's been looked at. Clear and immaculately clean. This feeling is fullness inside and down my neck. Like my ear is under water almost. Same for you, Mabel?

Yes, I have some of this on and off, started some time this year. I am in late peri. Will hopefully go away later on. Anna

Yep.  Whooshing.  Tinnitus.  I can hear my heart beating when laid down - DH tells me 'that's good'  ;D

yes Sparkle my "wooshing" was worst in peri and it has settled along with the weird left sided eye pain we discussed a while back.
I am now into month 4 of oestrogel and utrogestan which seems to be working for the majority of the oddities.  So has the right earache although it can be a little bit painful if I have been jaw clenching in the night but no where near as bad as the 5 years before.  I had all the tests under the sun, you know scopes up the nose, head MRI and ear drops and stuff for sinnusitis but hey ho turns out is the menopause - who knew!  In fact that is just how I explained it to the last ENT consultant
AgathaC like being underwater - he couldn't find anything wrong either (I flaming wish some smart ar*e doctor had known, would have said quite a bit of pain, discomfort and worry over the last 10 years!)  At the height of peri when all your symptoms are off the scale including anxiety if you let your brain run riot you convince yourself you have a brain tumour - well I did!  Its all stopped very recently Mabel now 4 months in with a regime apart from depression which seems to suit and now it is confirmed I am defo post meno!

Yep - my right ear was really noisy on Thursday night in bed and I hadn't even laid down!

Yes, often, infact right now! I believe it can be related to stress and anxiety, hence the link to meno and peri. It can be caused by tension in the jaw and face muscles, and as the internal organs of the ear are so closely related they are affected by that tension. People with tooth grinding problems and temporomandibular joint disorder often have tinnitus and odd sounds as part of their condition. So, I guess those with minor jaw tension can feel them too, I know I can.
