Good evening,
Seeking advice on Tostran.

At my request GP has prescribed Tostran to improve my libido and help with lack of energy/aches & pains.

I have a Mirena cool and use Sandrena gel daily.

Previously (2 years ago) prescribed Testogel by Annie Evans but didn’t use more than a few weeks as felt edgy on it.
Keen to have another try now but GP & pharmacist unclear as to dosage.

Reading through posts here I think I have 2 options:

1: 1 full pump every 2/3 days
Or
2: I corn kernel (or half a split pea sized) pump daily.

Keener or the latter (easier to remember and avoid a ‘big’ dose every few days)

Can anyone suggest which is preferable? And where I should apply? Buttocks? Thighs? Shoulders? Inner arm? Tummy?

Thank you.

Hi there Smauskin

 :welcomemm:

With specialist queries like this you have to be patient as there are not so many on here that can reply - if you don't hear immediately someone will always be along even if it's a couple of days later.... especially if there have been no replies! It's a very busy time of year!

ANyway re the Tostran!!! Sounds like you've done your research well anyway. The Chelsea and Westminster Menopausa Clinic recommend twice a week but as you say that will give a large amount at first which will then tail off. T does seem to hang around in the body a little longer I think then Oestrogen gel but I prefer also to take it daily, so your idea of a lentil sized blob sounds good - to start with. Unfortunately the amount dispensed by the pump will be greater than this but you;ll just have to wash the rest away.

Re application site - Annie Evans said to apply to inner thigh but after a few months I felt that was too close to my "bits" as it travels through the skin transversely as well as into the bloodstream so now I apply to inside of knee. Some apply to heel! I get hair growth on my thighs....(as advised I probably would).

I started a thread on my experience of T called "Tesosterone here we go" in Private Lives - so miight be worth having a read ( goes off on a meander sometimes!)?

Hope this helps and good luck :)

Hurdity that really helps THANK YOU.

I was just keen to check a daily application wasn’t considered too ‘wrong’ given the Panay/C&W 2/3 x a week advice.

I will try daily application of a lentil sized blob - seems with careful depression of the pump I can managed to dispense something that size fairly easily.

I’ve seen that some apply to inner arm and rub in with other inner arm (thus avioding any waste) Aong with inside of knee, is that another possible site to use in your opinion?

Will be sure to check out your T thread in Private Lives but in the meantime, thank you again for reassurance and virtual hand-holding.

All good wishes,
Smauskin

That’s interesting re: the social anxiety. I e also had those symptoms.

I’m going to try a lentil-sized blob daily for now, but if I am tolerating it I may progress to a full sized blob 3 x a week as you are doing.

Thanks for your reply.

You’re welcome

I think I must’ve had higher than average levels of testosterone before menopause, I was a bit of a randy bugger lol x

I apply half a pump Tostran daily to my upper, outer arm. I tried on my inner lower thigh but it irritated the skin there; bit itchy. I have noticed that I still get slight irritation on the upper, outer arm if I apply it too soon after having a shower. I get a bright red patch for hours afterwards, but I do have sensitive skin.  But if it's applied at any other time then no irritation at all.

In the beginning (and just last week actually for reassurance) I would sometimes just pump out a whole pump, just to look at the amount and double check that the "half" pump measure that I do daily looks about right. I'd discard half of this.  Kind of a a reassurance thing that i'm not over-pumping as it's not exact.

I just find it easier to remember if its a daily thing and do my one pump of oestrodose on the other upper, outer arm at the same time.
