Alternative specilist

Hi all.

Im 34 and had a total hysterectomy at 32. Since this time I've trialled every HRT that my Professor could think of. I trust him  - he co wrote guidance for the NHS so he knows what he's talking ahout. Unfortunately with me i get side effects he has only experienced with a few women in his career and i can't find one that suits.  I cant persevere as the side effects are so extreme.  If i could i really would.

I've had bone density tested a year ago and it was normal for my age.

My professor doesn't discuss anything alternative and ive got to the stage where i need it.

I want to protect my bones and down stairs.  Sex is very dry and painful.  More concerned about my bones though.

Any advice I'd appreciate but id also like to know are there specialists out there that can help?

Many thanks

Hi Nette32, sorry can't help with the specialist query but YES products are perfect for the dryness and are organic and hormone free. You can get the moisturiser and lubricant on prescription now. Hope they helps and I'm sure someone will be along to advise you on the other queries.

However: if you have vaginal atrophy : do read our threads on here - localised HRT which is different to other forms so is unlikely to cause side-effects, is essential.

As oestrogen levels drop the body may become dry including deep in the vagina.  The skin thins = irritation.  So replacing that oestrogen in very small amounts really does help.  4 me it was like razor blades up there  :o and treatment has eased symptoms.  Some ladies use Yes and Sylc products along-side either Vagifem or Ovestin.  Do consider either if the Yes and Sylc don't help - let us know.

Maybe try to find a functional medicine doctor in your area? They focus on the function of your body as a whole and prescribe diet, bodywork and supplements.

I have been on Promensil for 8 months and it works for me. I am on peri though. It is a plant estrogen supplement that binds to your body's estrogen receptors. It comes in a high dose 80mg and I have had no side effects. Martin Stewart's website and books are helpful.
