Not sure how long I should carry on with Femoston1/10
« on: February 13, 2018, 07:36:41 PM »

Hi all after a private consultation with a menopause specialist. We decided to try Femoston 1/10 sequential to see if I reacted to the progesterone.  Not had a bleed before now for 7 months. Unitil last week two weeks on oestrogen only was fine felt great now however back and hip pain (maybe coincidental) but been spotting on and off brown/red for two weeks since starting the progesterone.  Disappointed if this is how it is going to be.  I will give it till the end of the 3 months but atm it is not looking good.
My question is is this normal am I right to carry on?
I know it is nothing sinister as I had a scan done 7 months ago when I had the bleed as I panicked and told it was just hormona.
Dont want to lose the great feeling I had at the start but dont know what to do. Anyone else had anything similar?

You are still Peri meno and having just started the HRT your body is adjusting to the hormones so some erratic spotting and bleeding may happen. You do need to give any HRT 3 months. You do need to be patient I'm afraid - there are no instant fixes

Hi slightlymad (love the name, that's how I feel right now).
I had quite bad back ache on femoston 1/5 which is conti but this only lasted up to about 6 weeks I think then disappeared like magic and I really did like the femoston up until month 4 when the progesterone side effects really kicked in and I couldn't tolerate it any longer.
I would persevere as it's definitely one of the kinder progesterones and I wish I'd tried the sequi but I just didn't want periods anymore due to cyclical mood swings etc and being past peri.
Give it 3 months at least. Back ache is one if the initial side effects that will settle.
Good luck x
