Songs for care homes
« on: February 10, 2018, 07:33:35 PM »

I seem to remember very vaguely that we had a thread about singing in old folks' homes .......

Ten Green Bottles
Kumbaya

Any other suggestions that Mum could use in her new situation?  Songs that others might join in with?

CLKD Is your mum in there or is she a singer in there....?

I used to visit my friend John who had motor neurone sadly since passed but there was a lovely lady call Daffy, Daffy Duck I called her and whenever she heard the word England she would start singing a rip roaring version of
"There'll always be an england".

So we bought a load of small england flags and the rest of the residents would join in.  Even if they had dementia they all new the words.  It was lovely.

I wonder whether many of these older folks appreciate listening to tunes from their youth as we would I expect. I know my mum enjoys the songs from the 40s and 50s so I got her a player and a selection of those songs which she loved.
