Iron Deficiency Without Anaemia and RLS.
« on: February 21, 2018, 12:05:37 PM »

Hello ladies.

I have been reading up on iron deficiency without anaemia as I was diagnosed with this recently. My haemoglobin was okay but my serum ferritin was below the normal range so I have been given iron supplements.

It seems that low iron can cause many problems and has been implicated in restless leg syndrome as well as headaches, trembling and depression.

We often say that it is a mistake to attribute everything to the menopause so a simple blood test could tell us if low iron is a problem and if so it is easily treated.

I hope this is helpful ladies and there is plenty of information online for anyone interested in the subject.

Wishing you all well.

 :thankyou:

I have had restless leg syndrome from an early age.  In more recent years (1990s) I discovered that eating bananas daily cured the sensations and now I take Nurofen when necessary.

Never had my iron levels checked.  Let us know how you get on with the treatment.
