Ectopic heartbeats
« on: January 19, 2018, 01:05:27 PM »

Hi all just wounding if anyone else suffers with ectopic heartbeats? I have had them on and off over the years but the past five days they are  driving me mad. It's hard to ignore them as my heart seems to be constantly skipping and jumping. I have been checked out over the years and assured my heart is fine but they are really scary and not nice at all, I feel they are hormone related as having flushes with them. Just wondering if anyone has found a way to deal with them or better still gotten rid of them.

Hi Tammy, yes I used to get them a lot!! especially pre menopause! Mine have settled big time I would rarely have them these days, I'm post Meno. I think they must be down to huge fluctuations.  Anxiety can make them worse.  I remember taking a herbal remedy which helped a lot, it is called crataegous it's in tincture form and E Vogel are the manufacturers, make sure you check with your pharmacy or GP that u can take it x

Yes I started getting them in pregnancy and not having had anything wrong with my heart before was referred to a specialist but all OK fortunately. My neighbour also started getting them at the time ( we both had young children) and both started having decaf coffee. I have lapsed back to caffeine over the years and funnily enough recently have started getting them again - although my hormones are completely stable. Not sure why - I don't do anxiety (although have always been a worrier to some extent!) so can't put it down to that  but I'm also going to cut back a little on caffeine and hope they go.

They really are annoying aren't they? The worst time is just after going to bed, finished reading, put the light out, lie down and relax and then it makes you jump. I find myself lying there in the dark feeling my pulse! For me they are not happening all the time though. That must be a right pain!

Palpitations at least are a normal peri-menoipausal symptom. Not sure about ectopics? If you are getting hot flushes as well and are peri-menopausal or infrequent periods, a course of HRT might help and would certainly eliminate your hot flushes.

Thanks hurdity, they really are very annoying. I had hysterectomy over five years ago so don't know where I am meno wise. I haven't had these ectopic for quite a while so they have caught  me off guard, I'm trying to ignor hem but as you know that's not easy. If they're still there Monday I might visit doc and see what she has to say. Hopefully they will disappear as quickly as they started.

HI , I get ectopic heartbeats , it's not a very nice sensation  with the skipping beats and palpitations. THe dr gave me diazepam and beta blockers to help with this . I have found with the perimenopause the symptoms are slightly worse which I have been told is all part of the peri .
