Do you maybe have ulcer on your tongue, as they can hurt a lot when eating?  Can't say I've had that problem though, unless I've eaten something too hot.

I get this too.  Very sensitive tongue, especially the tip part.  It is a known meno symptom.  Are you on any HRT at this time?

Hi gina - a sore tongue can also indicate low iron levels. When did you last have yours checked?

My mouth burns with chocolate  :( - not every time but something as simple as a croissant with chocolate can cause my whole mouth to burn - I can no longer eat jam, marmalade, some fruit pies ………. bananas can cause the symptoms but not every time - the WHOLE of my mouth burns instantly, beginning on my tongue, round my gums, down the back of my throat ……..

Anyone got any ideas what can relueve this symptom of what I now know after reading is memo related.  My tongue gets sore as if all top layer been taken off and started having to watch what I eat.  I do get a few days of relief now and again but it seems to be bothering me more and more

Hello gina123,  I have a sore burning tongue and lips, but mine has started since I began HRT.  Usually, HRT resolves the burning mouth syndrome for women who are peri/menopausal. If anyone has just started HRT, or thinking about it, don't let this post put you off, my side effect seems to be unique! It might be worth checking with your Dr to see if you have oral thrush, as I know this can cause the same sensation. I hope you do not have to give up too many of your favourite foods in the meantime. I've been keeping away from spicy food and it's been difficult!
