I think this will depend on whether the cancer was oestrogen dependent.  Try to get advice from a specialist gynaecologist.
If you have had these cancers then it may be tricky but if it is close family members with these types of cancers, then you need to find out the nature of the cancer they had and you may be able to have tests to see if you carry the genetic risks.

If you have undergone surgery or treatment, do discuss with the Oncologist who treated you.  Many will say a firm 'no' but one has to remember that Quality of Life is important.  I do wonder if there is so much 'danger' with HRT why breast removal isn't suggested 'in case'.

Hi delphlady

 :welcomemm: from me too.

The contra-indications to HRT are listed on this website:

Pregnancy
Undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding
Active or recent blood clot or myocardial infarction (heart attack)
Suspected or active breast or endometrial (womb) cancer
Active liver disease with abnormal liver function tests
Porphyria cutanea tarda

However as said you need to take advice on this. Perhaps you could tell us a bit more about yourself, how old you are and where in menopause so that we can help you better, if you would like us to, and what symptoms you need relief from? Vaginal oestrogen can sometimes be given to women with a history of breast cancer but again you need to discuss this with your oncology team and a menopause specialist, if this applies to you.
