Apparently: Police stopped the driver of this particular lorry that morning and were told that he was delivering ice-cream. Now although hindsight is a wonderful thing, wouldn't it have crossed someone's mind to note that it wasn't refrigerated and why not check paper work to see which store they were planning to deliver to and then check with the store? Europe is supposedly on high alert although France dropped their level on the 15th.

I wonder if those particular Police slept since?

was the motorcyclist who tried to stop the lorry heroic of foolhardy. As far as I know he has not yet been found after falling under the lorry.

The photo of those empty buggies in the paper today is heartwrenching. However it is a tragedy for all, not just the children but it always seems worse somehow when they feature the children.

'they' say that he would have been killed but maybe he rolled away?

I would say brave - acting on instinct and determination? believing that he could stop the driver and never imagining the consequences?

it always works in films, but sadly this was real life and there wasn't a script writer.

Did you see the couple interviewed on TV news last night, Simon and Amanda Coates. He was eloquent but she was totally traumatised. You can't imagine it can you.

My SIL and her hubby took us to Nice for my hubby's 60th birthday, five years ago. We walked numerous times along the Promenade des Anglais and the hotel we stayed in was the one in the background of the first pictures to be shown yesterday. Made us think.
