No OptiBac is not available on prescription CLKD. Sorry but you have to pay for it. Most chemists stock them nowadays.

Hopefully they will work quickly pn. I was always prescribed 50mg four times a day but for my upper UTI it was increased to 500mg four times a day. Big guns as the GP said! They can make you feel a bit woozy when you first start them plus some people get back and neck pain (I did) but this usually goes off by the second or third day. Keep drinking plenty of water to keep the bladder flushed and don't forget the paracetamol too.

Superdrug sell them to take alongside ABs. They are not terrible expensive but very effective.
Unfortunately Actimel does absolutely nothing, it tastes nice enough but is pretty useless.

Hope you feel much better soon. Don't forget to keep drinking lots and lots. Every time you go into the kitchen have another glass of water.

Let us know how you are, and I hope you get a good nights sleep.

I know this sounds daft...but a pair of cosy socks in bed and a hot water bottle. Cold feet make you need a wee.

Nice hot drink, maybe a warm bath and early bed.

Take it very easy tomorrow. You have an infection and need to look after yourself.

I normally love my bath but couldn't face it at the moment.
I will do the socks and the bottle has already soothed.
Going up shortly as very tired

Thanks ladies. You are always there.

Thanks Taz.

There will be an out of hours GP Purplenanny or you can ring a Pharmacist for any advice  ;)

A sample probably wouldn't have been tested over the Bank Holiday so treating the symptoms is important to give you relief.  Hope that you get a good night!

Can cystitis really make you feel this rough?

Had a terrible night

My head is thumping .I feel sick .my neck feels like its been in a brace .and my womb feels like its about to drop.

The burning has eased though so thats a blessing

And another  from me too.

Taz is the expert on this so hopefully she will be along soon to advise.

I do know when I have had it it has made me feel really unwell. The ABs could be upsetting your tummy but if you want some advice then call NHS direct to speak to someone.

Take care.

Not a clue PN. Years ago I used to loose so many days at work due to infections. I couldn't drive the distance without needing the loo.
All I wanted to do was curl up in bed with a hot water bottle and sleep until it got better.

If you are concerned though then call for advice.

That's exactly what I feel I want to do, so I guess i am going to take myself back to bed.
I am just not too good at accepting being poorly....I always try to work through, but this infection won't let me.
I do think its the abs upsetting the tum. Just nibbled some dry biscuits so hope that helps

Have you sent hubby for your probiotics yet.

Going back to bed sound the right thing to do.

Let us know how you are, and rest up. This is not something you can work off.
