Heartburn
« on: August 18, 2015, 03:25:53 PM »

I have been suffering from heartburn on and off for so while now but just lately it has become more frequent.
Today I've had enough, despite taking gaviscon and some over the counter tablet( which would normally shift it) it has not gone away.
I phoned the doctors and have an appointment tomorrow morning.
I'm beginning to worry about it :-\
It is happening a lot and lasting about 2-3 days.

Is it Gaviscon Advance Dyan....the other stuff doesn't work for me at all.

Digestive issues are another lovely part of meno for some.

Right pain in the.... ::)

Hope you get something that helps from your doctor.

No, it's not gaviscon advanced just the normal one but they haven't shifted it at all over the past week so I've  been taking an indigestion tablet that the pharmacist recommended.
I took one this morning, when I felt it coming on after breakfast, and it still wasn't gone by lunchtime,so I took another one and it's still here :(
Only allowed to take 2 tabs in 24 hrs.
I was surprised to get an appointment, but the receptionist asked what it was about and at first didn't have any appointments but went off and came back and said she had one for 8.10am tomorrow.
I just need some relief. It's horrible. I feel like there is something stuck in my chest.

I said that about Gaviscon too until Sparkle pointed me towards it. You can't buy it off the shelf it's behind the pharmacist counter and is not cheap but boy does it work. It's horrible to take because it's so thick.

I take Lansoprazole in the morning and two teaspoonfuls of Gaviscon at night before bed and the heartburn is well controlled.

I think that's what I have taken peripenquin and it hasn't worked. I'll see how I get on at docs tomorrow.
Will let you know ;)
Thanks HB!

Saw the nurse today and she thinks I might have a gastric inflammation.
She has give me a months supply of lansoprazole 30mg,one in the morning.
I'm to go back if symptoms get worse or,after taking the course of tablets, the heartburn comes back.

30-60mins before.

DH was on it 4 years ago but it did nothing. A few weeks later he was diagnosed with pancreatitis and was in hospital for 2 weeks and then gall bladder removed after 4 wks.
Must say, after taking the one lansoprazole this morning,I'm feeling more comfortable.
The nurse did say that it should also help with my bowels, as I mentioned I get very windy :o ;D

Let's hope the improvement continues.  Often the gut becomes used to what is put through it and needs another preparation in order to ease symptoms?

Colpermin eased my upper gut wind …….

That's what I take Dyan and have found them very helpful. I also take the Gaviscon at night before bed.

Hope they work for you....the only thing is having to waken up earlier in the morning to take one  ::)

Let us know how you get on.
