He's an author.  He also talks on TV and radio as well as having returned to Beirut in more recent years.

Yours?

Yours?

Been thinking on that whilst doing other stuff this pm - noone immediately springs to mind - i admire the women spies during the war years but they were heroines not heroes which you have asked for.

Same - if you admire a person ………. :

Leonardo de Vinci is the other ………. a man before his time  ;)

There are heroes and heroines all around us. People who rise above adversity. I am thinking about a friend who is an alcoholic, who several years ago chose to live and each day makes the decision not to drink, but make a contribution to life. My friend, who has cancer, but chooses to smile and be her lovely self. Another older friend, whose husband of many years, sings in the my choir, despite wanting to shut the door on the world and my son, who left school almost illiterate, as he is severely dyslexic and served poorly by the schools he attended. At age 30, he graduated with a paramedic degree. And there are heroines who write posts here, who get on with living despite huge adversities and challenges. You are a hero or heroine if you get up and get on, scared and terrified and bereaved. It is not something you choose to be.

Wonderful post Ju Ju.

It means so much more if it's personal. For me it's my hubby at the moment. Facing adversity with a good bit of dignity along the way.

Good topic. My grandmother springs to mind. She lived during the suffragette movement & made quite an impact in her local community politically. Quite a fiesty lady.

Grandfather on my dad's was quite influential in his field of work too.

There are various people I know or can think of, who make, or have made, a big impact on me.  Instead of going through the list here, I'll just say the one person from history that I would love to meet is J. S. Bach.   A total genius who put classical music as we know it on the map.
